  1. I can't access your reflection and rubric. Also, you need to report on the implementation based on the rubric and sample given in the Assignments Folder on the Blackboard. Post it asap. Email me if you have any questions.

  2. I like the idea of studying fairy tales and incorporating blogs! I did a project in in one of my undergraduate classes where my group had to choose a fairy tale, study it, and discuss different stereotypes that were misleading to children (girls needing to be rescued, minorities as poor) and then we had to rewrite the script to be more culturally accurate (called flipping the script). We finished the project by acting out a part of it! It was a lot of fun.

  3. So this is my second time trying to comment...last time I pressed the wrong link and it all disappeared! No i can relate to the difficulties of ESL students :-) Lets hope I can do it this time.
Fairy tales are so much fun and I am always jealous when teachers are able to incorporate them into their lessons. I loved your use of a blog, it is a wonderful way to have students participate in writing with a purpose. Having someone other than the teacher commenting on your thoughts, or an exchange of ideas, is well grounded in the ELA standards.

  4. Wow! Fourth grade! I love the idea of using blogs and your topic is very intriguing. I'm just curious if any of the parents opposed to their young children creating a blog. Fourth grade is quite young.

    1. I had my own e-mail when I was at third grade.
It made me feel so fresh.
And times have changed, I believe it is fun for kids to have blogs:D

  5. Studies suggest that blogging improves students' writing. It allows students to plan their thoughts out and think creatively before putting words down in a coherent manner. Taking ownership of the writing also motivates student writers. They can freely express their ideas and opinions. They can also share it with peers and ask for feedbacks too. I am glad you are able to incorporate blogging into a lesson. Your implementation report says "fast learners were encouraged to help those who needed guidance." I am in favor for peer-to-peer tutoring. Not only does it benefit the students who needed extra help but also the high-achieving students.

  6. Great feedback and discussion going on!!! :D :D :D
I love the idea of using blogs to enhance students' communicative and writing skills! This is such an interesting lesson for 4th graders. Blogs are also great to become ePortfolio that will allow teachers to evaluate students' work closely. For some reason, I can't open the rubric. Can you please re-post it here again or send it to me via email? Great job!!! :D
